If you’re anything like me, then you are feeling the cost of living crisis nipping at your soul while you try to run towards happier times.

I don’t want to be nothing but a work horse, blindly grinding away, too tired to do anything about my circumstances.

I don’t want to come home from work only to melt into the sofa, numb myself with alcohol and consume endless media.

I want to live. I want to grow and hit my life goals. I want to be happy.

But as realistic adults with bills upon bills to pay — how possible is that in the current crisis?

I’m determined to make it possible.

Running to and fro

Back in 2009, in a terrible job and an even worse marriage, I discovered that running made me feel free. It’s one of my passions, and being a more accomplished runner is a priority for me.

Yes, I have adult responsibilities too. Soaring living costs and debt from my former freelance career that got eaten by Covid are making times very tough. But I’m not a quitter.

I’ve got big plans to work on my racing, hit some goals distances and PBs, and move up the ladder at work.
