Firstly, I’m not saying caffeine isn’t life. I love my coffee. But when you are truly, deeply tired, you need a longer-lasting boost.

Caffeine just wears off to quickly. Plus, there is a limit to how much is good for you.

Secondly, I’m writing these tips as I use them.

I am three weeks into a new job, and have just caught a summer cold. My brain and body both need some help to get through the day.

So these are the tips I will be relying on today to keep me going strong.

The right amount of movement

We’ve all heard that energy breeds energy – right? Obviously if you’re starting your day tired, then too much movement will send you in the wrong direction.

The trick is to keep your body moving gently throughout the day. Don’t sit for so long that you get sleepy. But don’t wear yourself out either.

Imaging yourself moving gently and consistently like a flowing stream. The key word here is FLOW.

Gentle stretching when I’m sitting at my desk, or busting out a little dance when I’m standing are my go-to tricks.
