How I Wrote Affirmations That Truly Worked For Me

It’s all about the evidence

If you’ve tried things like affirmation work before and found it didn’t really help, then maybe you were just missing this little step.

Previously, when I’ve tried and failed to feel the benefit of affirmations, it’s been because they didn’t hit home with me. They were “off the shelf”, standard statements that I got from a book or a Pinterest post.

Little wonder they had no effect.

Recently, a good friend suggested I try writing my own. Honestly, the difference when they are personal is the key.

Gather evidence

In addition to being personal to me, these are affirmations I can back up with evidence to ensure I really feel them deeply.

When I noticed this, I was reminded of something David Goggins wrote about in both his books – the cookie jar.

Goggins’ cookie jar is a place he goes in his memory when he needs a boost in self belief.

It’s a collection of his achievements, and of adversity he has overcome.

So I made my own cookie jar, and I’ve been using it to reinforce my own affirmations. This is how I made them resonate and do the job I need them to.
