Fat Leaves The Body As Carbon Dioxide

Here’s how to hack this

I always liked the saying; “sweat is just fat crying.”

It’s a fun idea – but I’m afraid it is also a bit misleading. Only a small amount of fat will leave our body as water, either in our sweat or our urine. It mostly leaves us in gas form, as carbon dioxide when we exhale.

Historically, cardio was our go to for fat loss. All that huffing and puffing, along with the sweating, was deemed the gold standard of exercise.

Thankfully, our knowledge has evolved and we now understand why cardio alone doesn’t work for most people.

In short, too much cardio is a big stressor on the body. So our efforts to huff, puff and sweat are counteracted by the stress response in our nervous system.

Cortisol

Too much stress on the body causes prolonged cortisol spikes in our blood stream.

That cortisol throws off our natural balance, leading to retention of body fat. So we can bash out the aerobics classes night after night, but still be plagued by excess body fat.

What our bodies need is less cortisol and more balance. In other words, some cardio balanced with some resistance training and a de-stressing activity too.
