Coping as a Content Creator with Chronic Fatigue

I’ve dealt with tiredness before. I have burnt out twice in my freelance career, burning the candle at both ends relentlessly. ‘Old me’ was typically seen pushing myself up the stairs to a clients office the day after running a marathon, or something equally ridiculous.

For example, the day after the London Marathon 2018, the hottest on record, I accepted a media interview at 10am. I was so tired I couldn’t remember my age when the reporter asked me. It’s no wonder I’ve ended up where I am.

In my current situation, it’s been an emotional struggle to accept that I needed to stop doing all those crazy things that, to be honest, used to define me.

I was the girl who took on so many clients that she needed a spreadsheet to manage them all. I was the girl who travelled for a race, ran until my legs fell off, and then got up the next day for a work meeting.

It was probably high time I learnt to pace myself. So when I fell ill at Christmas and it never went away (possibly Corona-related, we don’t know yet), both my GP and my good friend who knew chronic fatigue first hand, gave me some great advice… and it’s…
