If I had a penny for every time some well-meaning person told me to just take the weekend off — I guess I wouldn’t be so burnt out.

The problem we all have, of course, is that we know overworking will lead to burnout. Yet the current economy doesn’t give us a choice.

Many of us are stacking up the overtime or the second jobs and side-hustles just to make ends meet. Never mind having money for any extras — this is purely about survival.

Therefore, the standard advice for burnout — “take a day off “— doesn’t resonate any more. It just isn’t practical.

The what and the why of burnout

Burnout is a state of physical and emotional exhaustion that can significantly impact our well-being, productivity, and overall quality of life.

While taking a break is often recommended to combat burnout, not everyone has the luxury of time or the financial resources for a vacation.

However, there are still effective strategies you can employ to recharge and alleviate burnout symptoms without halting your much-needed income.

Here are a few snippets of some of the best advice I can find from reputable sources.
